When you are searching for assisted living in Charlotte there are a lot of factors to consider. Our Charlotte assisted living services are a branch of our independent living community and skilled nursing care. Sometimes with age come small requirements that we are able to assist our residents with.
What is assisted living?
Assisted Living programs provide assistance to seniors who need help with day-to-day activities, such as eating, bathing and dressing. Within this program, members are able to enjoy their freedom and a sense of independence with assistance from nurses and staff as needed.
Does my loved one need assisted senior care?
It may be time to consider an assisted living community if your loved one has difficulty
- – maintaining their home
- – preparing meals
- – or transporting themselves
For many seniors, this signifies a tremendous loss of independence. However, assisted living communities are designed to give support to your loved one while helping them maintain as much of their independence as possible.
Goal of Assisted Senior Care Facilities
From dining options to medication management, assisted senior care facilities offer a variety of amenities and social opportunities that keep your loved one safe and healthy.
We want to help them maintain their independence, when it feels like they are losing it. The goal of assisted living facilities is to make the transition from less care to more care as easy as possible and without putting more strain on the member.
It’s also very important to continue giving them the opportunity of freedom and independence wherever possible.

Frequently Asked Questions About Assisted Living
What is the difference between assisted and independent living?
Independent living communities are designed for seniors who are able to manage day-to-day tasks without additional assistance. Communities such as this, like The Cypress of Charlotte, are perfect for seniors who are able to live independently while enjoying the convenient benefits of a retirement community.
Members within assisted living communities receive support during daily care activities, such as getting ready, eating, taking medications, etc. Seniors are able to live as independently as possible, but typically require help with housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry and transportation.
The Cypress of Charlotte is a Continuing Care Retirement Community, or Lifeplan Community, which means we provide additional care options, such as assisted and memory care, to our independent living members as their levels of need change.
What happens if my needs change?
If your health needs change while at other similar communities, you may not need to change levels of care. In some cases, you may receive physical therapy or increased assistance. However in some cases, you may be asked to leave the community if they are unable to attend to your needs.
The Cypress of Charlotte also offers memory care right on our campus if ever needed, meaning you do not have to move if your needs change. Your level of heath and wellness care grows as your needs grow while you’re living at The Cypress of Charlotte.
